twenty-three

Warning: Long Blog Post!

Today I am twenty-three. I know, still a baby. But we'll see, maybe this long post is just an example of my increased wisdom--ha! More like my birthday gave us an excuse to do a lot of fun things recently and now I'd like to share!

June 4th is my favorite day of the whole year. Usually, I'm lucky enough to make my birthday celebrations last much longer than just this one day, though. This year was no exception. Friday night we spent a lovely evening at Pane Vino downtown Enid. It was the most Seattle-esque meal I think we could've found in town. And since we were missing Seattle pretty badly that day, it was perfect. Of course, we talked about all the things we want to do and places we want to go (and most importantly, things we want to eat) on our next visit home.

I got my big birthday present a month ago when Zack came home with a new PINK handgun and we spent a day together shooting and taking a conceal carry class. Then this past Saturday, I woke up and got to open a new Kindle in bed! I know, I'm spoiled. But now I have no more excuses not to read or be bored while Zack studies.

Then, we had a babysitter for Hadley. Our first day of freedom from the puppy! She had fun playing with the neighbor girls and their dogs and was so worn out she slept solid for the rest of the weekend. (Thanks, Kristen! :) So, we headed down to OKC to just enjoy the day. We made little stops at Target, Chipotle, and Barnes and Noble. It's so funny what you end up missing. After the birthday burrito and catching up on celebrity gossip in trash magazines over a latte, we checked out the Oklahoma City Memorial. I've wanted to go since we moved here, and I was really glad we took the afternoon to explore. It was an awesome display of the symbolism of such a tragic site. Here's a little look at our tour of the memorial.

Then we had a great dinner together followed by a movie.

Sunday we laid low. One of the most exciting events of the day was Zack attempting to kill the black widow that has moved in to our garage. But the most exciting event was our epic game of spades with some friends that lasted all evening. The most productive event of the day was creating a new budget now that we are both finally making a dependable living. Now if we could only stick to it...wish us luck!

Today was probably the best birthday-falling-on-a-Monday a girl could ask for. Work was busy, but it went by fast. I got taken out to lunch by a coworker/fellow AF wife. Zack had the house prepped for a wonderful fancy dinner he cooked all by himself. Hey, if you drink good wine with Hamburger Helper, who is to say it can't be fancy, right? :) At least he cooked and cleaned it all up himself and gave me a wonderful night off. I got to open all the cards and presents sent to me by my beautiful family and friends from far away. I got spoiled! Thank you all so much. All your cards, calls, gifts, flowers, texts, layouts, and even FaceBook messages made me feel loved all day. Even Hadley felt the love as she scored some gifts from my mom out of my birthday care package.

Now to end my birthday evening with my wonderful husband, my puppy, and maybe another glass of wine...
