White Washington Christmas

Luckily we already had plans to go home to Washington before we moved. Otherwise, there is no way I would have motivated myself to leave. We arrived in Alabama with just enough time to unpack our house and pack for our trip. We had one day to do all of our Christmas shopping, and it just happened to be a day full of tornado warnings and torrential downpour (my sign to never procrastinate again!). It was an experience to say the least.

Traveling each way took an entire day, which made me realize just how far away from home we now are. But at the same time I feel more at home in our short time in Alabama than I ever did in Oklahoma. There are trees here to look at, occasional rain, some hills, bodies of water -- basically everything Oklahoma lacked.

We started our trip with three days in a cabin in Leavenworth with a ton of snow. In fact, there was too much snow. The pass was closed the entire time and we never got to go skiing. But, Leavenworth is our special place and we had fun shopping, eating, playing cards, and celebrating Christmas with Jed, Sarah, and my mom.

Then we headed home to Centralia to have a big family Christmas dinner and visit for a few days.

Finally we spent time in Seattle - the city where my heart truly belongs. We visited with old friends and got to meet some new ones.

It was fun being in Washington, but we were happy to return and actually spend some time in our new home.
