I thought the lengths parents went through to celebrate a one-year-old were quite ridiculous. I mean, the child has no idea what is going on. But, then Elliott turned one and I realized how much fun it is to celebrate as a parent. So we did.
On his birthday we ate waffles for breakfast, opened a present, ate at In-n-Out for lunch (because who doesn't want French fries for their birthday?), played at the park, and welcomed Granmama, Miles, and Uncle Bugs to our house.
The next day we celebrated with a meal at DW Bistro (per Elliott's request...smart kid). Elliott even extinguished his candle on his birthday cake...with his bare hand!
Then after all the Thanksgiving feasting, Friday we had a little airplane cake and presents for E.
I think overall, I probably had the most fun. But, I mean, I did a lot to make it through this first year. It's justified, right?
We cannot believe Elliott is one. But boy is he sure a lot of fun right now.
At one you...
Talk a lot, but the only decipherable words are "mama," "yeah," and (not really a word, but it's decipherable) a sound you make when you want your sippy cup
Smile showing all of your teeth
Crawl up and down the stairs SO fast we can't keep up with you
Open and close doors, cabinets, drawers...you're into everything
Are still a picky eater, but you love peanut butter and eat it everyday on everything
Still like to nurse in the mornings
Like to ride in your wagon around the neighborhood every afternoon
Learned to give kisses-and boy do I love your slobbery kisses!
No longer have a pacifier...because your mean parents made them all disappear!
